I was home educated myself from beginning to end, and it is something I have always hoped to give my own children. Now, as a mother of four young children, I have started looking seriously at what is actually available for families wanting to home educate in the UK.

I found lots of excellent resources, but I couldn't find a Catholic curriculum that brought together the different approaches I wanted to use. The comprehensive Classical, Montessori and Charlotte Mason-style programmes I found were largely American and weren't designed around the UK education system or the qualifications our children will eventually need.
So I decided to create one.

Hidden Life Curriculum is my attempt to bring together the best of these educational approaches within a distinctly Catholic and British framework. I want children to receive a strong academic education, with clear progression towards GCSEs, while also having plenty of time for nature, practical skills, creativity, reading, movement, faith and family life.

At the heart of it is the idea of forming the whole child - their mind, heart and hands - inspired by the hidden years of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Nazareth.

I'm creating this curriculum first and foremost for my own children, but my hope is that it will eventually become a resource that other families across the UK can use and make their own.
